I only expected to complete one TMA a month, but in the month of May I have now competed seven TMA's all with high scores and I intend to have Section 1 Part A completed by the 1st of June. Over the last month using skills I have aquired through my training, I have managed to install a 120 GB Hard Drive, install a DVD +/- Re-Writable Drive, partition the new hard drive and transfer a large quantity of Software and Files across to the new drive. Whilst installing the new hard drive I was able to set the dip switch to master / slave correctly and using the knowledge gained through the course, found the appropriate driver for the device on the net. I feel I am really starting to get to grips with the course content and find myself searching the net for addition information to further my understanding of the lessons. I am now working in a first line IT possition which I never thought would be possible until I started my coures. I feel I am gainig the experience that will help me on the completion of my course. I've finally convinced my friend to consider skillstrain and the last time we spoke he couldn't wait to get a visit. This followed a sort of an argument as he was about to start attending a cisco course from a day college and one that would take him a year or more and most importantly costing fortune. A student came to me asking for some help as her system went down. She was using windows 98. Due to the crash she had lost an important essay that she had to submit. I ran scandisk and there were lots of bad sectors and lots of .chk files. I opened each one in turn using notepad and saw that among the gobeldegook there were little bits of english - I went through every .chk file removing the rubbish and then saved the files as .txt. After completing this I handed the machine back. The next day she came back to me almost in tears as she was so grateful. she told me that I had managed to save about 95% of her essay. It left me feeling rather good and it was so very satisfying that I could have helped in such a way. I have started up my own IT business, fixing and repairing pcs from hardware and software problems. While doing this I have managed to create a income to keep my head above water, while freeing up more time to study more of my valued CompTIA course. Doing this has put what I have learned into practice and helped me to relate to what the course is teaching me. In my spare time I have taught many people things about PCs including my parents how to us their PC which I have personally made for them, enabling them to communicate with me through E-mail and messenger services. It also helps them feeding their Ebay addiction.I have also taught my self web design.I am getting into the IT industry in many fields, but mainly concentrating on PC repairs and maintaining PCs. I am enjoying every bit of it and have found a sector of the working industry that I feel confident with while having a hobby at the same time. I am now on my third update to this course and plan to take no further updates as I now wish to complete and pass my exams in this course. The advantage however is that I would have studied this course three times. What can I say I have not achieved what everyone else has achieved, but it is an achievement in its self starting the course and completing my first assignment, I am ready to do my second assignment on Wednesday and shall try my best to complete atleast 1 assignment a week from now on as I am now getting to grips with the knowledge and information there is to absorb. I've found employment already within the IT industry with scope to further my career and working full time, and currently submitted 5 tma's with 2 test scores of 85% and 3 of 90%, so I'm loving the fact that I'm getting the experience of being on the job as well as training. THE SESSION I ATTENDED WAS GETTING MORE OUT OF STUDENT WORLD. IT HIGHLIGHTED AREAS THAT ARE VERY USEFUL AND SHOWED USEFUL TIPS I WOULD NOT HAVE KNOWN ABOUT OTHERWISE. THE SESSION RAN VERY SMOOTHLY AND THE SOUND LINK WAS GOOD. I RECOMMEND THESE SESSIONS. I am currently doing CCNA course now. I am full-time worker in one of the telecommunication company. I already finished an university degree but CCNA is very helpfull for my long team plans. I have completed A+ and N+ and will be finish it on time. Working and studying is very hard but I can do it. Thanks to skills train, they are doing a fantastic job. I am nominating my self for the student award for having the courage to return back for the completion of my studies after I left for about six months due to financial difficulties and family pressure. I'm back and I wish to do my exams before the end of the year.I have always been cocnsistent im myTMA marks. Since I started this course it has really helped me to open up my mind and understand how the pc works. I can clean my own pc and I am looking forward for the big challenge in the computer world.
