Since I started this course last year I never used to put alot of effort into studying or reading, but now I've been given the chance to push myself forward I feel I am doing pretty well, with a couple of mistakes on the way, but I feel once I progress more I feel much better on the inside than I used to. Thank you skills train. I STUDY ALL DAY MOST DAYS TO TRY AND IMPROVE MY COMPUTERS SKILLS,I ALREADY KNEW THINGS ABOUT COMPUTER BUT I HAVE NOW LEARNT ALOT MORE ABOUT COMPUTERS I'VE GOT 100 PERCENT REPORT WHICH IM PROUD OF, THANKS TO THIS COURSE SO I'M GOING TO CARRY ON DOING MORE TO GET MORE. I used what I have learnt and have applied it to a real life situation in my job (computer technician). One example of this was when a computer we had in wasn't displaying the graphics card under the device manager meaning the screen could only be displayed in 600x480. My fellow workmates were ready just to wipe everything and reinstall windows. So I had a look at the computer and I thought it was really strange how it wasn't displaying in the device manager. I remembered that in my course I learnt about IRQ's and how sometimes they can conflict and cause problems. So I went into the device manager, view resources by type, expanded the IRQ box, and sure enough there was several devices all using the same IRQ number including one that said 'graphics adapter.' I uninstalled all the devices with conflicting IRQ's, restarted windows, windows found them again and assigned them different IRQ's it also found the graphics card again meaning it would display a nice 1280x1024. Thanks to this course I saved us alot of time and hassle and saved the customer a fair amount of money. Well to kick off I had 2 spinal operations in 1997, which made me lose the best job I have ever had, I am married with 6 children and 2 grandchildren so money was very thin after spending all my savings, then before you know it you get caught in the trap of surviving on the dole with sickness payment for the first 6 months, then I got a part time job with the firm I worked for before only to have a collapse in my lower spine which caused a fussing in the spine with another op, I wished a hole would open up and take me away, I have been diagnosed with colitis swelling in the last 5 months, but I am still looking forward to getting my A+ and N+ which May take away the problems I have now as stress is the cause for a lot of problems and getting these will mean a better life for my family and it will give me the confidence that I have lost as I need to get back to work A.S.A.P. then my doctors said they will sign me off the sick if I pass my A+ N+, so that is the incentive pushing me forward. I have only been a student for a few months I feel I have done extremely well getting up to tma 4 mainly because I have studied very hard. I am a new student, I started this course to keep my mind active as I have recently suffered an anurysm of the anterior artery in my brain, and as a result lost my job teaching electronics to foreign students. This course has helped me immensely, and I have managed to achieve results of 100% on some of my TMA's. During the past few days I manage to fix my friend's computer with the knowledge I get from my studies. I also managed to complete all my Assignment-14, section 1,part A-and part B in three weeks time. And I have managed to increase my pass grade by studying hard. Well first off I would say I have achieved much this past month on my course. I set myself a Goal and have beat it! managing to submit 2 TMA's plus a TMA written assignment, which I think is quite good if you are not employed. But as I am in full time employment aswell I think I've done quite well. I hope I can keep it up Good luck to everyone. So far I have completed a full P.C instolation from the ground up I have put the work station together and installed a tower moniter keyboard and printer. New to the IT world & did better than I thought on 1st TMA, I'm putting in quite a good amount of learning, I'm on shift work & where I can't do it 1 day. I will put in more on days I can, & more when I'm on my days off. My results are normaly 90-100%. Studying has been a little difficult as my wife was having a harder than normal pregnancy and was having to spend most of my time helping her. Since the birth I am still managing to maintain fairly high results while tendering to baby and wife. Before I started my A+ course I knew absolutely nothing at all about computers. Then as my course progressed I found out more and more about them. I was doing quite well until the building of our house extension started in May 2006. As a qualified Electrician I was required to wire all the extra rooms and fit smoke detectors etc. I started the course in December last year but I have done other courses. I wanted to learn about the workings of the PC so I started to learn about PC hardware and maintenance. I am starting the assignments but learning more as I go through the course. I am 56 year old postman who is trying to learn a new job in PC.
