Having recovered from a serious car crash 2005/06, I was unable to retain short term information, suffering from blackouts, given the all clear to return to work in April 2007 I am now studying for my MCSA course and feeling confident in being able to study and retain the information learnt.

I never find it easy to blow my own trumpet but I feel that I am holding my own really well. My wife suffers from depression, anxiety and severe agrophobia, this has a big impact on both my job and the time available for study. My average for 24 assignments on the A+ is 93%. I am a 40 year old teaching assistant looking for a major change in career direction. With each assignment despite the stresses of my home, the feedback always motivates me to achieve the best I can.

In 2005 I started N+/MCSE course honestly I wasn't sure that I am doing good thing. At the beginning I wasn't eager to learn but week after week I used to gain more and more knowledge. I didn't noticed that after 11 months I finished N+ part of the course. So I attempt for N+ exam and passed with great result more than 85%. I was so surprised about my knowledge because I didn't believe in my abilities. After 3 weeks I received certificate and I started looking for a new IT related role.

Just after few days I was invited to an interview from a BMW company near Oxford. On interview I surprised employer with my multi-skilled abilities, and achievements.

I get a job not exactly in IT, but with great chances for promotion in near future.
I decided to take that position; it wasn't easy because I and my wife expecting a baby in September and we were "forced" to move from London to Oxford. But we made the decision.

On my first day I met with the manager who trained me in new role for about two weeks, my job involved quality control on the production line. After some time I mentioned about my IT skills and I had an interview with IT manager. Everything was great, after next 3 weeks I was moved to IT department on new IT Network Analyst position.

I see now that this investment it is starting to pay off. I have more time to studying for my MCSE exam and I'm sure that I will succeed.

Now I have great job and in few weeks time I will be a father!
I am the happiest man in the world!

Thanks to Scheidegger

I am writing this with my left hand while the right is suspended in the air covered in bandages. You see, I am a printer by trade. The course I have been doing with skillstrain is my passport to escape the boredom and noise of a factory job. Three weeks ago I had a fight with a printing machine. I managed to get my fingers caught between the rollers and have had major surgery to re-build my fingers.
Following the success of my A+ exams I threw myself into studying and have completed 5 TMAs in just a few weeks with scores in the 90s, which I am very pleased with.
Luckily for me, my hand will mend and it should not stop me from pursuing my dream career in IT. I suppose you could say I'm lucky in that respect. My first thought after the accident happened was, "How am I going to type?!". Well, I shall just have to wait three months to find out.

After 6 weeks of studying my course work I have helped out a friend with his pc. he was having problems with his computer booting up.after reading the power supply troubleshooting part,I was able to diagnose that he had a faulty power supply, although he has not replaced the power supply yet I will be replacing it for him once he has bought it,not bad considering 6-8 weeks ago I would not have even give repairing or troubleshooting a second thought.

Since joining skillstrain I have COMPLETED my CompTIA A+ and since this has happened I have had a new job from british telecom and I am constantly being asked by potential employers to attend interviews! I am very much looking forward to passing my N+ and my CCNA with skillstrain!! I never thought in my life time I'd be motivated to study! Thanks.

I am so proud to be part of this institution. I was not quite sure when I first joined if I could be successful, but I have made immense progress and it is unbelievable what I have achieved. Today, I completed my final tutor marked assignment for the first part of my course with great confidence and am glad to say that I have done very well in the last 10 so am really proud of my self.

I am really enjoying this course so far and have learned so much already, although finding the time to study can sometimes be challenging. I am working full time on minimum wage at the moment in an environment where the scenery never changes and redundancy is always lurking around the corner. Due to my poor wages I am still living at home with my family, which isn't the worst thing in the world but being able to afford a place of my own would mean the world to me. I never seem to have much spare time, but most of it seems to slip away on helping other members of my family. My sister is due to be married in September and alot of the responsibilities have been shared out between us and I am also a bridesmaid. My younger sister has just given birth to a little baby boy, so with this and my older sisters wedding coming, our house seems to be constantly filled with visitors. This is not a good thing when they are waking me up early in the morning after I have just worked the night shift!
I have always had a huge interest in computers but never really had the option to learn more about them as there were no IT orientated subjects of study at school. I have also found over the last few years that I also have an interest in fixing things, whether at work or in the home. The material that I have studied so far has made me realise that I actually have quite a lot of knowledge in this subject that I never knew I had.
When I was young, I really struggled to think of a suitable career path. And over the years I have changed my career ideas several times. I always had it in my head that the best I could do for myself and my family was to stay at school for as long as possible and then go on to university. I settled into the idea of training to be a secondary school teacher, specialising in Physical Education. I gained the grades that I needed and was accepted into the BEd (hons) Secondary PE course. Within five months of the course I started feeling depressed and realised that I was at university for all the wrong reasons. I made the decision to leave and take a couple years out of education so that I could work full time and gain valuable work, and life experience. This way I would have more time to think about what I could do with my future. I decided that my most ideal job would be something I would enjoy doing; a job that would reward me financially for being good at my job; it would give me a sense of security and wouldn't wake me feel overworked and undervalued. I then saw a leaflet for skillstrain. After my initial meeting I realised that this job is what I would love doing and get paid well for doing it. Every aspect of the job description excited me and I just cant wait to finish the course. I know that I will find it challenging along the way but I want this so badly, I wont quit until its done!!

I began this course just over a year ago now and while my progress was slowed considerably while I moved home which had not been planned when I started the course I knew that my study time could be flexible enough for me to be able to get over this obstruction. I've now completed my A+ course and passed the exam and I'm moving swiftly on to my N+ coursework. A year ago I was made redundant and felt I was at a dead end in the industry I am currently qualified for, it was a depressing prospect to feel I was not exploring my full potential so I contacted the Skills Train. Being able to study for a qualification in a field I am extremely interested in whilst being able to study around my current day job has changed my outlook considerably and I look forward to the new prospects that are opening up for me.

Last week I managed to get myself in touch with an association named LG technology inovations. Before that, I had an interview with Microsoft computing, and was called back for a second interview. I am currently working at LG as a part-time employee and have started a job with them as an administrator working on there systems. Microsoft had no issues with me working for them except I complete the training course and then can apply for an MCSA administrator within there company. I since was fishing for employment to get a "start up foot" in, so I could progress and be able to get used to the environment. Luckily, as mentioned, I did get in to LG and now hope to progress within there company so I can get hands on experience. I can see my career pushing forward, and can see were I hope to be in 10yrs time, and its a great thought! Once again, I would like to thank everyone at skills train and advice everyone who is out there on skillstrain programme, to keep it up, its all worth the effort!

I am a qualified nurse who works in a nursing care home. I deal with residents with dementia and frail elderly. I have been here for 18 months from Botswana Africa, a country hardest hit with HIV/AIDS. But through hard work and dedication in a new environment I manage to succed through the odds. I have been promoted to a post of a sister from 13/08/07 at a local care home where I'm currently working.
I feel honoured to be given that challenging role but at the same time I find time to do my studies with skillstrain.
One day at work I assisted a colleague to operate a computer, and despite limited knowledge, I was confident enough. I helped because she was about to call a technician out which was going to cost a company a fortune.
Generally I think I have achieved more than I expected and am currently encouraging my friends to join skillstrain.
Thank you!

I have over the past few tmas got 100% so I am very pleased with myself. I am currently looking into starting my own business so I am trying to find the best reliable places to get pc parts, many many people are now asking my advice instead of going to the local pc repairer, they are telling me I know more than he does. That I am not sure on but if I dont know I tell them and I also tell them my advice is only a phone call away as a result they are letting other people know who I am
