Since I started the course I haven't found it difficult instead I have learned new things about IT that I didn't know. The course is a smooth process of learning which can be helped with a lot of studying I am pleased to say that so far I have achieved 90% or greater on my TMA's which I am extremely pleased about. But more then that I am extremely proud of myself for completing the two units on networks. I had very limited understanding of networks, but with the clear and precise text I can say without a doubt that I know more about networks now then I have ever done previously. It May seem like small potatoes but to me, the network parts of the course I knew would be hard, they were infact quite easy to understand due to the fact that it was written clearly and in a way in which I could understand. Makes me want to get the A+ done and move onto the N+ as quick as possible. I have never been one for studing and could never apply myself to it, for e.g I started this course in three years ago with the ambition to finsh it quickly but I never actually started until November 2007. Since then I have seen what the course work has to offer and I have been blown away by how easy it is to get my head down and actually study. The course work is fantastic and easy to get to grips with, I May only have just completed part a in the Comptia A+ section but I have learned and achieved alot and look forward to what this course holds for me not only in work prospects but what it has done for me as a person and that is all thanks to skillstrain who have made it possible. Since starting this course at the beginning of January I have become 100% more confident about solving promblems and maintaining computers, I have even started some part time work for a company that repairs p.c's and laptops. I have also built a p.c for a friend to his specification, which I feel is a good achievement in itself, because 2 months ago I would have had no idea where to even start. So I think my biggest achievement so far would be, having the confidence to competently build and repair computers. Before starting with skillstrain I was on job seekers allowance and honestly thought I would be stuck on it for the rest of my life. Since being with skills train and heading towards the qualifications I need, its opened up opportunities for me to start my own business, I am now coming off job seekers allowance and have started to build a positive future for me and my family. All because skillstrain was willing to give me a chance. I am currently liasing with InBiz and will have my own business up and running in the next few weeks. Thank you skillstrain for giving me a shove in the right direction! Working around my 60 hour a week job. Driving 100's of miles a week. This course is giving me great hope for the future. When I see my results it gives me great encouragement to keep going, knowing that life can get better. I'm loving it, and wish that I did all this sooner. Achieving to do this course after suffering a great deal of very bad health problems, smashed hip and spine, recovering from 5th heart attack ,told I will never work again. I am getting an average of 90% to 95% on all tma's up to this point. I am studying to do something that I can make a living at and give my children a better start in life, and to show others that it does not matter how ill you are, you can still achieve something in life, doing this course has given me a new lease on life. I aim to achieve 90% to 95% for the rest of the course if not better. My main achievement so far is to read, understand and learn the book in front of me. My memory has improved since and getting better. My greatest achievement is doing the Skillstrain course and showing my children never give up no matter how bad thing get,and not to listen to doctors. My partner and children are proud of me, getting the marks that I am, due to all the problems of my health. I have achieved beyond my expectations score wise due to the fact material you suppy is well laid out and easy to follow, which makes studying more fun. I have achieved nothing less than 80% in the TMA's since I have started the course, this I think is a reflection of the amount of studying that I carry out in order to achieve the exceptional results that I have. Out of the 4 TMA's I have received back 2 of them have been 100% and with the confidence I have gained carrying out this course I believe the 5th TMA I have submitted will also be graded 100% as I have put in alot of study time to achieve the best result possible. Also I feel as a personal achievement I have taught younger children who have minimal knowledge of computers and the internet, how to use their computer safely online without any fear of recieving any virus, spyware or adware. Also I have educated the parents of these children to use certain family saftey software so the children are safe online and are unable to access any sites which are unsuitable for children. As a result of this parents of these children have appreciated this help and have recommended me to friends so that I can try and help keep other children safe onlne and best of all is that the service I have provided has been free of charge. This has also helped me build my knowledge base and customer care skills. I started the A+ course in late July '07 and have just received the TMA 31a back from marking (100%). I'm not going to start the N+ course until after Christmas as I could do with a break. We all have come a long way (SkillsTrain college, myself and all students of the college). I started off on a SkillsTrain IT programme without thinking of the implications of doing so. Now, I have realised the impact of my actions which comes with huge responsibilities IT-wise. Having completed the first two parts of my programme with the college, I almost gave up on carrying on with the third part (CCNA) due to sickness, finance, etc. I didn't give up due to support from family and friends, now I am happy I continued. Within just four weeks I've managed to complete the entire Section 2 Part B of CompTIA A+ course, having a full time job, working on shift pattern (usually 10 hours per day) and looking after my family. I've been studying very hard, pushing myself to complete this section within a week and my aim was not to get below 90%. I've achieved that. Now I'm waiting to submit TMA30, do the revision suplement and pass the exam. I have just restarted the course after a 2 year break. in that 2 years I have been divorced, re-married and bought a new house. The last experience I have had with studying is 27 years ago while at school. It has taken me some time to get back in the flow and trying to allocate time to study. Since restarting the course I have managed to repair and rebuild an old computer for my kids to use for their school homework. I saw an old PC but it is a Dell P4 that was being skipped by my employer. I managed to purchase new Ram and Operating system. I formatted the origional hard disk (One of the proviso's for having the PC) and upgraded the RAM from 512Mb to 1GB and reinstalled Windows XP. I also connected a wireless router to the PC and connected it to the Internet for my kids. Thanks to SkillsTrain I can now do this for my kids, which means a great deal to both me and them. At 61 and still learning it is never to late to teach an old dog new tricks.
